Megavar delivered HV testing and protection system commissioning for the Bluegrass BESS (Blue Grass) project in Queensland's Western Downs, working in partnership with
The CPX 200 supports the full primary-asset testing scope across transmission and distribution substations:
Megavar is one of Australia’s most experienced Omicron users, deploying the CPC 100, CMC 356, CIBANO 500, TESTRANO 600 and CT Analyzer on transmission and distribution commissioning projects every week. The CPX 200 represents Omicron’s next-generation evolution of that primary-testing capability, and Megavar is among the first Australian providers to add it to a hire fleet.
When you hire the CPX 200 from Megavar, you get an instrument maintained to the same standard as our own commissioning kit, with current calibration, complete accessories and a configuration tailored to your scope. Our engineers can advise on test plans, software setup, accessory selection (High Current Module versus HVX10), and result interpretation. Hire from our offices in Hobart, Launceston, Adelaide and Newcastle, with delivery Australia-wide.
Tell us about your project and we will get back to you within 24 hours with availability and a quote.

Megavar engineers use this unit on commissioning projects across Australia. Hire it from a team that knows it inside out.
All Megavar test equipment is maintained under a documented calibration programme. Instruments are calibrated either by external calibration laboratories or in-house against reference standards that are themselves laboratory-calibrated, with measurement traceable to Australian national measurement standards held by the National Measurement Institute. A current calibration certificate is available on request. If your project requires a specific calibration interval, test standard, or documentation for a client submission, tell us at enquiry on 1300 730 499 and we will confirm what applies before you commit.

The Omicron CPX 200 is a multifunctional test set for commissioning, maintenance and condition assessment of medium and high-voltage assets. It tests power transformers (TTR, winding resistance, demagnetisation, short-circuit impedance), instrument transformers (CT and VT ratio, knee-point, burden, polarity), and switchgear (timing, coil and motor current, static contact resistance, insulation diagnostics). With its modular Click and Play architecture, the CPX 200 replaces multiple individual instruments with a single ecosystem under 30 kg total weight.
The CPX 200 is Omicron’s next-generation multifunctional test set, released in October 2025. Compared to the CPC 100, the CPX 200 introduces a true three-phase voltage source, an extended frequency range from 1 to 600 Hz plus DC, an integrated 9-inch multi-touch display with on-device CPX TouchControl, modular Click and Play accessories, and integration with the CORTEX Grid cloud platform. The CPC 100 remains preferred for some applications such as rotating-machine testing, ground-grid impedance work, and very high-power applications. The two platforms are complementary, and Megavar maintains both in its hire fleet.
The CPX 200 main unit delivers AC and DC current and voltage across two outputs, with a frequency range of 1 to 600 Hz plus DC. With the optional High Current Module, primary injection currents up to 1000 A AC and DC are available. With the optional HVX10 system component, AC and DC test voltages up to 10 kV are available for ratio testing of voltage transformers and for insulation diagnostics. Both modules use Click and Play attachment to the CPX 200 main unit.
Yes. The CPX 200 performs full instrument transformer testing including ratio measurement, ratio at high voltage (Ratio V) up to 10 kV with the HVX10, low-power instrument transformer ratio, knee-point determination using the same proven method as the Omicron CT Analyzer, winding resistance, burden measurement, and polarity verification using the CPOL3 hand-held polarity checker. The CPX 200 supports CT classifications including TPS, TPX, TPY and TPZ types.
No. The CPX 200 has an integrated 125 V DC station-battery emulation, which means medium-voltage circuit breakers can be tested with the breaker fully separated and isolated from the station battery. This is a significant safety and workflow advantage on commissioning and maintenance jobs where the station DC system is unavailable, undergoing testing itself, or unsafe to use.
Yes, when fitted with the HVX10 system component. The HVX10 provides a 10 kV AC/DC voltage source that enables capacitance and dissipation factor (tan delta or power factor) measurement, plus insulation resistance with Polarisation Index (PI) and Dielectric Absorption Ratio (DAR). Both measurement procedures can be performed in a single test setup, and the HVX10’s four current inputs allow up to four transformer bushings to be connected at the same time without rewiring between measurements.
The on-device CPX TouchControl software is included with every CPX 200 hire from Megavar, which means many transformer, instrument transformer and circuit breaker tests can be performed directly on the unit’s 9-inch touchscreen without a laptop. CPXpert PC software is required for advanced features such as guided test plans, automated reporting, multi-window analysis, and CORTEX Grid synchronisation. Customer to supply own laptop with Omicron CPXpert installed using your organisation’s licence. Test data from the on-device TouchControl can be transferred to CPXpert later via Ethernet or USB if needed.
The CPX 200 main unit weighs 10.6 kg. The optional High Current Module adds 3.3 kg. The optional HVX10 system component adds 14.8 kg. The complete system, with both modules attached, weighs under 30 kg, which is significantly lighter than the equivalent legacy testing setup. The CPX 200 ships in either a robust transport case (which doubles as a trolley and tabletop work surface) or as a set of lightweight backpack carry cases that can be combined when both modules are taken to site.
Megavar dispatches Omicron equipment from offices in Hobart, Launceston, Adelaide and Newcastle, with overnight delivery available to most major Australian centres. The CPX 200 is a high-demand item, particularly because it is a recently released product, so booking in advance is recommended. Contact Megavar on 1300 730 499 to check availability for your project window, confirm the configuration required (with or without High Current Module and HVX10), and arrange dispatch.
Yes. In addition to equipment hire, Megavar provides full testing and commissioning services using the CPX 200, CPC 100, CMC 356, CIBANO 500 and the wider Omicron range. If your project requires a complete commissioning team rather than just equipment, contact us with your scope and we will quote a turnkey service. This is a common option for transformer factory acceptance support, BESS commissioning, and substation energisation campaigns.
Submit your rental request online, and our team will respond promptly with availability, pricing, and expert advice.
Once confirmed, we’ll quickly process your booking and dispatch the equipment. Delivery and collection can be arranged to suit your schedule.
