Earth Testing Equipment for Hire
Earthing system performance is critical to personnel safety and protection system operation on electrical networks. Megavar’s engineers perform earth grid testing and commissioning for transmission and distribution network owners across Australia, from new substation builds to earth grid augmentation projects. When you hire earth testing equipment from us, you get access to engineers who understand the practical challenges of earth testing in the field — from managing long current injection leads at remote sites to interpreting results that indicate whether an earth grid meets the requirements of ENA EG-1 (formerly EG-0), AS/NZS 3000, and site-specific safety criteria.
Introduction
Megavar provides earth testing equipment for hire across Australia, supporting earth grid impedance measurement, step and touch voltage assessment, ground electrode resistance testing, and soil resistivity surveys. Our earth testing fleet includes the Omicron CPC 100 + CP CU1 platform for comprehensive substation earth grid testing, AEMC 6471 portable ground resistance testers, and Red Phase high-current earth injection sets for large earth grid systems.

All earth testing equipment is supplied calibrated and complete with test leads, current injection cables, and accessories appropriate for your testing scope. Flexible hire periods and Australia-wide delivery are available.
Why Hire Earth Test Equipment from Megavar?
Earth grid testing is one of Megavar’s core competencies. Our engineers commission and test substation earthing systems for transmission and distribution network owners across Australia, so we know what works in the field. That includes managing several hundred metres of current injection lead at remote sites, and reading results that confirm compliance with ENA EG-1, AS/NZS 3000, and individual NSP standards. When you hire from us, that practical expertise comes with the equipment.
All earth testing kits are supplied calibrated, with appropriate test leads and current injection cabling sized to your earth grid dimensions. Where the test setup is complex or you want a second opinion on results, our engineers can support remotely or on site. We dispatch from offices in Hobart, Launceston, Adelaide, and Newcastle with delivery Australia-wide.

Calibration
All Megavar test equipment is maintained under a documented calibration programme. Instruments are calibrated either by external calibration laboratories or in-house against reference standards that are themselves laboratory-calibrated, with measurement traceable to Australian national measurement standards held by the National Measurement Institute. A current calibration certificate is available on request. If your project requires a specific calibration interval, test standard, or documentation for a client submission, tell us at enquiry on 1300 730 499 and we will confirm what applies before you commit.
