Megavar delivered HV testing and protection system commissioning for the Bluegrass BESS (Blue Grass) project in Queensland's Western Downs, working in partnership with
Specifications
Used for high voltage withstand testing, insulation testing and primary injection on plant fitted with Size 3 CONNEX sockets, and as a transition connector between CONNEX-equipped transformers and bare overhead lines. Selected on interface size rather than on current rating, since the electrical performance matches the Size 2 unit.
If you are not certain whether your plant is Size 2 or Size 3, send us the switchgear make and model and we will confirm it. It is a five minute conversation that saves a wasted mobilisation, and our engineers have the CONNEX experience to answer it properly.
Tell us about your project and we will get back to you within 24 hours with availability and a quote.

Megavar engineers use this unit on commissioning projects across Australia. Hire it from a team that knows it inside out.
All Megavar test equipment is maintained under a documented calibration programme. Instruments are calibrated either by external calibration laboratories or in-house against reference standards that are themselves laboratory-calibrated, with measurement traceable to Australian national measurement standards held by the National Measurement Institute. A current calibration certificate is available on request. If your project requires a specific calibration interval, test standard, or documentation for a client submission, tell us at enquiry on 1300 730 499 and we will confirm what applies before you commit.

View Hire DetailsIt provides the same touch-proof, fully insulated test connection as the Size 2 unit, on plant fitted with Size 3 CONNEX sockets. Uses are high voltage withstand testing, insulation testing and primary injection, and transition between a CONNEX-equipped transformer and a bare overhead line.
A site with more than one CONNEX socket size needs a connector for each: the Size 2 test and transition connector for Size 2 sockets, and the Size 0 or Size 1 grounding and current testing connector for bolted current injection and earthing at 2 kV. For substation earthing assessments Megavar also hires the Mitton TVM1100 tuned voltmeter. Tell us the plant and the tests and we will put the set together in one hire.
By the CONNEX interface fitted to your plant, not by electrical rating, because the two carry the same ratings: 42 kV maximum system voltage, 800 A nominal current, per PFISTERER datasheets 827 186 212 and 827 186 213. If you are not certain which size your switchgear has, send Megavar the make and model and we will confirm it before dispatch.
No. It is a test and transition connector for withstand and insulation testing at up to 42 kV. Bolted current injection and earthing through a CONNEX socket is the job of the Size 0 and Size 1 grounding and current testing connectors, rated 2 kV. Tell us the test you are running and we will confirm the connector set before dispatch.
EN 50180, EN 50181 and DIN VDE 0278-629. Rated for indoor and outdoor use from minus 25 to plus 50 degrees Celsius, at installation altitudes up to 1000 m above sea level. The body is injection moulded silicone rubber and epoxy resin with geometrical field control and a turnable 45 degree design.
The PFISTERER CONNEX test and transition connector, Size 3, article number 827 186 213, its protective cap or blind plug where supplied, and a transit case.
