Franalyzer Frequency Response Analyser. Hire from Megavar for transformer winding deformation and mechanical integrity testing across Australia.
Description
The FranalyZer Frequency Response Analyzer is a specialised diagnostic tool used to detect mechanical and electrical winding displacements in power transformers, shunt reactors, and instrument transformers. Also known as Sweep Frequency Response Analysis (SFRA), this method compares frequency signatures to identify issues such as winding deformation, core displacement, or internal faults caused by mechanical shocks, short circuits, or transport damage. Compact, portable, and field-proven, the Franalyzer is essential for condition-based maintenance, factory acceptance testing, and post-event diagnostics in high-voltage substations and transformer yards.

• Sweep Frequency Response Analysis (SFRA) from 0.1 Hz to 25 MHz (verify exact lower limit against the unit datasheet for the FRAnalyzer Megavar holds in fleet)
• Detects winding movement, deformation, core displacement, and structural faults
• Conforms to IEC 60076-18 and IEEE C57.149 standards
• High dynamic range and resolution for precise comparisons
• Three test methods: end-to-end, end-to-neutral, and cross-phase
• Automatic referencing and overlay of historical results
• Battery-powered or mains operation with USB connectivity
• Compatible with OMICRON’s PTM and FRANEO software
• Lightweight and rugged design for substation use
• Supplied with injection leads, clamps, software, and carry case

Frequently Asked Questions
Omicron FRAnalyzer Frequency Response Analyser

What does the Franalyzer test?

It performs Sweep Frequency Response Analysis (SFRA) to detect mechanical faults in transformers, such as displaced windings, core movement, shorted turns, or damage from transport or internal faults.

It’s used on power transformers, instrument transformers, and shunt reactors—particularly before energisation or after events such as short circuits or transport.

The device applies a low-voltage, variable-frequency signal and measures how the transformer responds across a frequency range. Changes from baseline traces indicate mechanical or electrical anomalies.

Yes. It meets IEC 60076-18 and IEEE C57.149 standards for SFRA testing of transformers.

Yes. The software allows automatic trace comparison with previous tests to highlight even minor shifts in response curves.

The unit operates on rechargeable battery or mains power. It connects to a laptop via USB for control and data storage.

Yes. The unit is compact, lightweight, and supplied with a hard case, making it ideal for field testing.

The rental includes the Franalyzer unit, test leads and clamps, PC software, charger, user manual, and carry case. A laptop preloaded with software can be supplied on request.

Yes. We provide technical support including setup guidance, software assistance, and help interpreting SFRA traces.

Minimum hire is 3 days. Weekly and monthly rates are available at discounted pricing.
